The 2022 NFL season is now in the books, and the Detroit Lions are pulling down fairly good odds to win Super Bowl LVIII.
With Super Bowl LVII done, the 2022 NFL season is also in the books. The Detroit Lions are going all the way into the offseason off the high of a 9-8 season, and in good position to take another step in 2023.
In mid-January, ESPN’s Louis Riddick went all in to put the Lions in the conversation as a Super Bowl contender next season.
"I’m going to say this now. I believe this team is a Super Bowl contender in 2023. I think what Dan Campbell is doing is just absolutely phenomenal, in terms of culture setting,” Riddick said. “I think young offensive coordinator Ben Johnson, what he did with Jared Goff this season — when Jared Goff had basically been thrown on the trash heap."
Detroit Lions land nice odds to win Super Bowl LVIII
For a lot of Lions’ fans, starving for playoff win as that drought extends beyond 30 years, entertaining the concept of going to a Super Bowl, let alone winning it, is to court disappointment. The Lions have not won a division title since 1993, when it was the NFC Central and the NFL had four fewer franchises.
But the sportsbooks are somewhat buying into the Lions as a team that could win the Super Bowl next year.
FanDuel Sportbook has the Lions at +2500 to win Super Bowl LVIII. That’s tied for the ninth-best odds there right now, with the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Jets.
Over at BetMGM, the Lions are also +2500 with tied for the ninth-best odds to win Super Bowl LVIII. The Green Packers are added to the Jaguars and Jets in a four-way tie there.
The Lions have the best early odds to win Super Bowl LVIII in the NFC North. Over on FanDuel, the Packers are +3100, the Minnesota Vikings are +4000 and the Chicago Bears are +6500.
