Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown had a good showing at the Pro Bowl over the weekend, as he won the Best Catch competition in spectacular fashion.

The Detroit Lions wound up with four players in Las Vegas for the 2023 Pro Bowl games. Wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown participated in the Best Catch competition, earning his way to Sunday’s final with catches submitted and shown last Thursday night. Fan voting got St. Brown into the final round.

In case you missed the Pro Bowl events, and no one would blame you if you did on Thursday and/or Sunday, here are the catches St. Brown submitted for the voting.

Right tackle Penei Sewell had a nice performance in the “Gridiron Gauntlet” on Sunday, as fans leaned into the idea he should get more offensive touches. But St. Brown was more on center stage, in the NFL’s attempt to have something akin to the Slam Dunk contest at NBA All-Star Weekend.

St. Brown went against Buffalo Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs in the Best Catch final. Former NFL quarterback Michael Vick threw passes to St. Brown, and on his second attempt he also got an assist from his brother and podcast partner Equanimeous.

Actor Pete Davidson was elected as a Pro Bowl “captain”, for some reason, so of course he was on-site on Sunday. After winning the Best Catch competition, St. Brown talked to Robert Griffin III and revealed a (temporary) “#1 fan” tattoo of Davidson on his arm.

St. Brown finished his day with a touchdown catch in the third Pro Bowl flag football game.

It’s safe to say there’s some work to do before the new Pro Bowl Games become a lot more watchable than the recent attempts to play a real football game at the Pro Bowl. But St. Brown had a bit of a big stage over the weekend, and he took advantage of it with a good showing.
