Four months out from his torn Achilles’ now, Lions safety Tracy Walker appears to be making very nice progress in his rehab.

Wednesday is January 25, so it has been four months since Lions safety Tracy Walker suffered a season-ending torn Achilles against the Minnesota Vikings on the road in Week 3.

The team’s leading tackler in 2021, and one of few bright spots on the Lions defense early this season, Walker was not missed as much as he could have been. Kerby Joseph had some good moments in his place, mixed with the learning curve a rookie often has.

Walker took an opportunity to criticize the field surface at US Bank Stadium, probably rightfully so, and he posted a workout video earlier this month showing his rehab progess–of course a couple shy of four months removed from his injury at that point.

On Tuesday, one day shy of exactly four months since his injury, Walker posted another video. Or videos, actually.

Walker entered his rehab process with a positive attitude, and via Ben Raven of MLive in October he put out a goal to be ready for OTAs.

"You know what? I’m circling right now, If I had to be honest with you, OTAs,” Walker said. “You know, that’s the first step. First step is trying to get ready for OTAs. From that point on, but like I said, for OTAs, I got to get out of this boot. I take it one step at a time, one day at a time. I don’t ever want to get too ahead if that makes sense.”"

In the Twitter comments to his post from Tuesday, someone suggested to Walker that if the Lions had made the Super Bowl he might have been ready. However sarcastically, Walker responded “I for sure would’ve been ready” (note: NSFW language in the comment Walker responded to).

In any case, with obviously still a lot of time between now and then, it’s shaping up to be a surprise if Walker is not ready by September and Week 1 of the 2023 season.
