The Detroit Lions won’t be playing this weekend themselves, but these five former Lions are in the Wild Card Round and will be worth watching.

A year ago right now, most (if not all) Detroit Lions were rooting for former quarterback Matthew Stafford to get the playoff monkey of his back in the Wild Card Round against the Arizona Cardinals. That of course happened, and Stafford led the Los Angeles Rams all the way to a championship.

The Lions almost made the playoffs themselves this year, winning eight of their last 10 games to finish 9-8 and only the short end of a tiebreaker with the Seattle Seahawks keeping them out.

This year’s playoffs don’t have a feel-good outside rooting story for Lions’ fans like Stafford was last year. But as noted by Ben Raven of MLive, 19 former Lions are on Wild Card teams playing this weekend. Not all are big names or made a notable impact as a Lion, but that’s still a lot of former Lions somewhere on Wild Card rosters.

Out of that group, here are the top five former Lions to watch on Wild Card Weekend, or “Super Wild Card Weekend”, as the NFL likes to call it with the addition of a seventh playoff tem in each conference.
