With a favorable matchup at home in Week 17, Lions quarterback Jared Goff is a legit QB1 in fantasy.

In Week 16 against the Carolina Panthers, however driven by what was as much as a 31-7 deficit in the third quarter and 42 pass attempts, Lions quarterback Jared Goff paid off the confidence he was startable in fantasy with 355 yards, three touchdowns and 25.70 fantasy points (QB2 for the week).

Goff’s home-road splits this year obviously extend to his fantasy production. But Week 17 is at home after a couple road games, against the Chicago Bears.

Back in Week 10 against the Bears, outdoors on the road, Goff had 236 passing yards and one touchdown along with 14 rushing yards as he landed a decent under the circumstances 14.84 fantasy points.

Lions quarterback Jared Goff is a legit QB1 in fantasy football for Week 17

The Bears have allowed the eighth-most fantasy points to quarterbacks this season (18.87 per game, Yahoo! scoring). Over their last four games, they have allowed over 300 passing yards and/or multiple passing touchdowns three times and all three of those quarterbacks have had at least 24.8 fantasy points (Yahoo! scoring). Going back over their last five games, a quarterback has accounted for multiple touchdowns and topped 17.5 fantasy points four times against Chicago.

There is some risk the Lions just won’t have to throw the ball much on Sunday, against the Bears 30th-ranked run defense (151.2 yards allowed per game). It’s also an even better fantasy matchup for whoever carries the football for Detroit. The Bears have allowed the fourth-most fantasy points allowed to running backs this season (Yahoo!, 0.5-point PPR).

But Week 10’s nearly 15 fantasy points against Chicago feels like the floor for Goff in Week 17. He has topped 17.5 fantasy points in each of his last three home starts, with over 21 fantasy points in the last two. He won’t need 40-plus pass attempts to have nice production through the air this week.

With some question marks at the quarterback position in Week 17, based on injuries or matchup, favorable situations are appealing for fantasy lineups. Goff has an almost unrivaled one this week, at home against a bad defense, so those weighing whether or not to start him shouldn’t overthink it. A top-10 finish among fantasy quarterbacks for the week is in play.
