Best Detroit Lions bets for Week 15 at New York Jets
As Sunday’s Week 15 NFL action approaches, here are three best bets for the Detroit Lions against the New York Jets.
Before digging into Week 15’s Detroit Lions best bets, let’s see how Week 14’s bets did. Odds at time of the post, and may have changed.
RB D’Andre Swift, Over 63.5 total yards (-114, FanDuel; -115 DraftKings): 39 total yards
Swift: Over 3.5 receptions (+116, FanDuel; +115, DraftKings): three receptions
Swift: Anytime touchdown (-120, DraftKings; -110, FanDuel)
So going all-in on Swift last week did not go well. On to Week 15 now.
Looking at the 2022 NFL schedule in May, or even August, no one would have said “Week 15, Lions at Jets, yeah that game will have playoff implications for both teams.” But it’s indeed the case, as the 6-7 Lions and 7-6 Jets are both in the Wild Card hunt in their conferences.
On Sunday morning, via FanDuel Sportsbook, the Jets are 1.5-point favorites. A fairly low over/under (43.5 points) is a nod to what is forecasted to be windy conditions at MetLife Stadium.
Via FanDuel Sportsbook, here are three best bets to try to cash in with on the Lions in Week 15.
Detroit Lions best bets for Week 15 at New York Jets
RB Jamaal Williams, Anytime touchdown (+145)
Williams did not score in Week 14 against the Vikings, and in five of their last six games the Jets have not allowed a touchdown to an opposing running back.
The Lions ground game has been trending the wrong way lately, in terms of yards per carry and explosive runs anyway. But the will have to lean Williams and Swift a bit more on Sunday, and the in their previous visit to MetLife Stadium (Week 11 against the Giants) they rushed for 160 yards as Williams scored three times.
Williams is unlikely to score three times against the Jets. But an anytime touchdown for him, at plus-145, is low-hanging fruit.
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown Over 6.5 receptions (-113)
St. Brown had a “down game” in Week 14, with six catches on nine targets. The expected conditions on Sunday means shorter passes for Jared Goff, and St. Brown has a more favorable matchup working in the slot than DJ Chark, Jameson Williams and Josh Reynolds will have on the outside against Jets’ cornerbacks Sauce Gardner and D.J. Reed.
For whatever it’s worth, St. Brown had seven catches against the Giants in the Lions’ prior visit to New Jersey. Double-digit targets on Sunday feels like an easy expectation this time around, with seven catches a viable bet.
Lions, Moneyline: +104
Straight-forward here. A plus-money bet on the Lions to win outright.
