Lions quarterback Jared Goff may have helped you to the fantasy football playoffs, but he should be benched in Week 15 if at all possible.

With finishes as QB4 (Week 13) and QB4 (Week 14), Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff may have helped a lot of fantasy football managers to the playoffs. From Week 12-14, he was QB7.

Goff is playing as well as any quarterback in the league lately. But in the fantasy game it’s all about what’s coming, and an attempt to predict the future on a weekly basis based on the information out there.

In Week 15 the Lions hit the road to take on the New York Jets. It’s worth noting the last three games have been at home, where Goff has been markedly better all season. The weather forecast for New Jersey is not that bad, in the realm of what could happen in mid-December, but the matchup is also a very rough one.

Jared Goff should be benched in fantasy Week 15 vs. the Jets

The Jets enter Week 15 allowing the eighth-fewest fantasy points to quarterbacks this season (15.08 per game; Yahoo! scoring). They haved allowed one or zero passing touchdowns in 10 straight games.

Take away rushing production for some guys (Kenny Pickett, Josh Allen), and a quarterback would not have more than 12 fantasy points against them in any of those 10 games. Allen (twice) and Pickett topped 15 fantasy points based on production with their legs, with Allen topping 20 fantasy points both times.

Goff and the Lions played against the Giants at MetLife Stadium in Week 11, and Goff had 165 passing yards with no touchdowns (6.5 fantasy points). He has 51 rushing yards all season, so he will not add a lot there.

It will be hard, if not impossible, to trust Goff in a fantasy playoff week this week. In two-quarterback leagues he might be ok, on the off-chance he gets multiple passing scores. But if you can pivot away from the Lions’ signal caller after he has gotten you here to Week 15, absolutely do so without hesitation.
