The Detroit Lions and New York Jets are both in playoff contention, and here are the early odds with a prediction for Sunday’s Week 15 game.

The Detroit Lions have won five of their last six games to put themselves in the mix for an NFC Wild Card spot at 6-7. They need to keep winning, and get some help, to make the playoffs.

In Week 15 the Lions will hit the road to take on the 7-6 New York Jets. It will be Detroit’s second trip to New York/New Jersey this season, as they beat the New York Giants 31-18 back in Week 11.

The Jets have lost two in a row and three of their last four, and all three losses were one-score games. They need a win pretty badly to stay on the “in the hunt” graphics for the AFC playoff picture.

Via FanDuel Sportbook, here are the early odds followed by a prediction for Lions-Jets in Week 15.

Detroit Lions at New York Jets: Week 15 odds and prediction

Point Spread:

Lions (-1): -105
Jets (+1): -115

Moneyline:

Lions: -106
Jets: -110

Over/Under (44.5 points):

Over: -110
Under: -110

Even though Sunday’s weather forecast for East Rutherford doesn’t look too bad, compared to what it could be, outdoors on the road in December is never an ideal situation for a dome team. Quarterback Jared Goff has also been notably better at home this year, so the Lions need to get their ground game back on track this week.

Jets quarterback Mike White took a brutal hit to the ribs last Sunday. So his status for this week is in some natural doubt, even though the early internal sentiment is he has a good chance to play against the Lions. Joe Flacco or Zach Wilson are downgrades from White right now.

Prediction: Lions 22, Jets 16. It won’t be an offensive showcase at MetLife Stadium on Sunday, with the turnover battle taking on extra importance. But the Lions pull out another win, covering the spread as the under on the point total hits.
