3 key matchups for Detroit Lions vs. Buffalo Bills Week 12
By Zach Payne
The Detroit Lions are riding into Thanksgiving with a three-game winning streak as they host the Buffalo Bills. Here are three key matchups for the game.
It’s that time of the year again The Detroit Lions are set to host their annual Thanksgiving Day game. However, as opposed to the previous several seasons, Detroit is entering this game with some optimism. Entering the game with four wins is tied for the most the Lions have entered Thanksgiving with since 2018.
Three of those four wins have come in the last three games, the Lions first win streak since 2017. It’s not hyperbole to say this is the most optimistic Lions fans have been about the team since then.
Unfortunately, that hope is about to run into the freight train known as the Buffalo Bills. The clear-cut Super Bowl favorite at the beginning of the season, the Bills have arguably the strongest roster top to bottom in the league. While they’ve had a bit of a tough November, dropping two of three, they are coming off a win over the Browns.
As they prepare for their second straight game in Detroit the Bills have every reason to be confident heading into this game. They boast the second-best offense in the league by both points and total yards per game, which should mix well with a Lions’ defense that’s still last in both total yardage and points per game allowed.
Detroit’s path to victory is going to involve slowing down the Bills’ offense in some capacity. As seen in multiple games this season, the Lions cannot get into shootouts with good teams and expect to come away with a win. So how can Detroit limit what the Bills are able to do offensively?
Here are three key matchups for Thursday’s game.
