Best prop bets for Detroit Lions vs. Green Bay Packers for Week 9
For Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, here are some Detroit Lions prop bets to try to cash in on.
Before diving into Week 9’s Detroit Lions prop bets, let’s take a look at Week 8’s results.
RB D’Andre Swift, Over 78.5 rushing and receiving yards (-115): 33 total yards
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown: 75-plus yards (+110): 69 yards
QB Jared Goff, 300-plus passing yards (+205): 321 yards
In Week 9 the Lions will welcome the 3-5 and reeling Green Bay Packers to Ford Field. There’s a legit chance for Detroit to pull an upset, with a narrow spread (3.5 points) with the game also carrying one of the highest over-under totals on the week’s NFL slate. FOX’s top announce crew (Kevin Burkhardt, Greg Olsen) will be on the call of Sunday’s game.
Via FanDuel or DraftKings Sportsbook where noted, here are some Lions prop bets to try to cash in on for Week 9.
Top Detroit Lions prop bets vs. Packers Week 9
RB Jamaal Williams, Anytime touchdown (+110, FanDuel)
Williams has eight rushing touchdowns this season, with four two-touchdown outings. He is getting more carries close to the goalline than any running back in the league, and he’s cashing them in regularly
Williams will go against his former team on Sunday, and the Packers have been relatively stingy in terms of allowing rushing scores to running backs (four all season, in eight games). But Green Bay is otherwise generous to opposing ground games, with the league’s 29th-ranked run defense (141.3 yards allowed per game).
With D’Andre Swift still banged up, Williams is in line for plenty of work on Sunday. Based on pure volume of opportunity, and where he almost monopolizes the work in the Lions backfield, a plus-money bet on Willams to score feels pretty good.
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown, Over 6.5 receptions (-130, DraftKings)
St. Brown was finally fully healthy again in Week 8, and while he fell short of cashing our yardage prop he did get seven catches on 10 targets. With tight end T.J. Hockenson traded away this week, 10 targets might be a minimum baseline for St. Brown every week going forward. He has had double-digit targets in every game he’s been fully healthy throughout this season, with nine in the one he suffered an ankle injury in.
A line of 6.5 catches for St. Brown begs for an over bet, and I’m taking it.
Amon-Ra St. Brown, Anytime touchdown (+130, FanDuel)
Doubling up on St. Brown with a scoring bet at plus-money on FanDuel. He hasn’t scored since Week 2, but as mentioned he wasn’t healthy for weeks after that before being at full strength in Week 8.
The Lions’ target/opportunity tree has narrowed with Hockenson’s departure, and wide receiver Josh Reynolds continues to be banged up–seemingly with a new injury every week. It wouldn’t be shocking if St. Brown got a carry or two on Sunday, and scored on the ground. But a bet on him to score one way or another is one that feels too easy.
