Desperate to end a four-game losing skid, the Detroit Lions return home for a clash with the Miami Dolphins in Week 8. Here are three matchups to watch.
The vibe surrounding the Detroit Lions seemingly grows grimmer by the week. After another disappointing loss, this time to the Dallas Cowboys, the Lions now sit dead last in the NFL with a 1-5 record.
Now heading back home after back-to-back road games on each side of the bye, the desperate Lions will play host to the 4-3 Miami Dolphins in Week 8. After starting the season 3-0, Miami went on a three-game losing streak highlighted by the infamous concussion incident with Tua Tagovailoa resulting in a rule change. Because they didn’t have their starting quarterback for the better part of three weeks, the team struggled.
However, Tagovailoa was able to return to the field in Week 7. While he was clearly rusty, as Pittsburgh dropped multiple interception chances, Miami got back into the win column against the Steelers.
The challenge facing Detroit is clear. The Dolphins have a high-flying offense that will challenge the Lions on every level. The secondary will have a particular challenge, as the Dolphins boast the third-best passing offense in the league (281.6 yards per game).
So how can Detroit slow down the Dolphins, and capitalize offensively themselves? Here are three key matchups to watch.
