The Detroit Lions return home to take on the Miami Dolphins in Week 8, and here are early odds and a prediction for the game.

On each side of their Week 6 bye, things have been pretty ugly the Detroit Lions. They have been outscored 53-6 by the New England Patriots and Dallas Cowboys, as the league’s highest-scoring offense through the first four four weeks has fallen off big time–albeit against a couple tough defenses on the road.

The Lions will welcome a return home to Ford Field in Week 8, and the 4-3 Miami Dolphins are the opponent. The Dolphins were 3-0, then they lost three in row before beating the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7. Tua Tagovailoa was back under center for them last week, and Miami has plenty of talent around him to challenge a Lions’ defense that has shown improvement the last couple games.

Via FanDuel Sportsbook, here are the odds and a prediction for Sunday’s game.

Detroit Lions vs. Dolphins: Week 8 odds and prediction

Point Spread:

Lions (+3.5): -115
Dolphins (-3.5): -105

Moneyline:

Lions: +138
Dolphins: -164

Over/Under (51.5 points)

Over: -110
Under: -110

The Lions’ defense will have a greater challenge in Week 8 than they’ve had their last two games, assuming Tagovailoa shook off his rust in last week’s game as the Steelers’ secondary kept dropping interceptions. The Dolphins’ defense has underachieved this season, so it looks like a rebound opportunity for Jared Goff and the Lions’ offense.

Prediction: Dolphins 26, Lions 23.

Being back at home should only help the Lions on Sunday, not that things could be much worse (at least offensively) than they’ve been in the last two games.

But I’ve got Miami winning the game narrowly, perhaps with a final possession situation determining the result. But Lions barely cover the spread, as the under on the point total hits.

Note: Game odds refresh periodically and are subject to change.

Must Read. Jared Goff is who we thought he was, and has really always been. light
