The game dissolved in a bad way for them on Sunday, but here are our three game ball recipients for the Detroit Lions in Week 7.
The Detroit Lions hung with the favored Dallas Cowboys for quite awhile on Sunday, leading at halftime 6-3 with a chance to take the lead early in the fourth quarter. Running back Jamaal Williams fumbled on a first-and-goal play, in a momentum-shifting moment. The Lions never recovered.
Turnovers were the theme of the second half for the Lions, as things went off the rails in with five giveaways after halftime (four from the hands of Jared Goff; two interceptions and two fumbles), in what became a 24-6 loss.
The Lions were not dominated by the Cowboys on the whole though, with an 18-point final margin very deceiving as Goff simply melted under the circumstances and Detroit residually couldn’t keep possession of the ball. But the Dallas defense was as good as advertised, and compared to Detroit’s offense the Cowboys’ offense largely took care of the ball (one turnover) in Dak Prescott’s first game back after thumb surgery.
There was some good to be taken from Sunday’s game for the Lions, even though things look very grim now with a 1-5 record. If the next draft were today, which of course it’s not, the Lions would have the No. 1 overall pick.
In search of some positivity, here are our three Lions’ game ball recipients for Week 7.
