Heading into Sunday’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, here is the final Week 7 injury report for the Detroit Lions.
The Detroit Lions had a bye in Week 6, and the schedule makers did not give them a soft landing coming out of the week off. They’ll hit the road to take on the 4-2 Dallas Cowboys, who are set to welcome quarterback Dak Prescott back.
The bye week didn’t seem to help some of the injured Lions players get healthy, but the injury report is not all bad news either.
Here is the final injury report for the Lions in Week 7, with statuses for Sunday’s game.
Detroit Lions Week 7 injury report
WR DJ Chark (ankle)-Out
DE Charles Harris (groin)-Out
S Ifeatu Melinfonwu (ankle)-Out
OT Matt Nelson (calf)-Out
CB Bobby Price (knee)-Out
RB D’Andre Swift (ankle/shoulder)-Questionable
WR Josh Reynolds (knee)-Questionable
DL John Cominsky (wrist)-Questionable
CB Will Harris (hip)-Questionable
LB Chris Board (knee)-Questionable
WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle)-No injury designation
C Frank Ragnow (foot)-No injury designation
OT Taylor Decker (personal)-No designation
After missing the two games before the bye, Swift is “pushing” to return to action against Dallas and seems very likely to do so.
Chark also missed the two games before the bye, but he’ll miss a third straight contest and he seems likely to miss a few more. Harris missed Week 5, and he’ll miss his second straight game Sunday.
Reynolds previously had an ankle issue, and this week’s knee issue was new. But after a limited practice on Friday, he’s at least listed as questionable right now. We’ve seen the Lions downgrade players on Saturdays though.
Melifonwu and Price being out thins the Lions depth in the secondary and on special teams. Nelson has not practiced for three weeks–he worked as the sixth offensive lineman when the Lions use an extra lineman.
With Harris banged up, the door may be open for Amani Oruwarye to reclaim his starting job on Sunday.
On the good news front for Detroit, St. Brown was a full practice participant all week and he’s good to go against the Cowboys. Cominsky looks set to return after missing the last three games. Ragnow progressed to a full practice after being limited Wednesday and Thursday. Decker was away for the birth of his child on Wednesday, and his status for Sunday was never a question.
The Lions could activate one or both of cornerback Jerry Jacobs and defensive lineman Josh Paschal in time for Sunday. On Friday morning Campbell suggested those decisions are coming Saturday, as the three-week window to activate each of them nears its expiration next week.
"Yeah, they’ve been working, and I feel like every day, they’ve gotten a little bit better, so we’ll see. See where they’re at tomorrow.”"
On the coaching side for the Lions, quarterbacks Mark Brunell will not be available for Sunday’s game. Offensive assistant John Morton will assume his duties.
