As the Carolina Panthers consider a fire sale after firing Matt Rhule, these four players should be on the Detroit Lions’ radar.

Matt Rhule was the proverbial betting favorite to be the first NFL head coach fired this year, and on Monday the Carolina Panther cashed in that bet. Subsquent reporting from Jay Glazer of Fox Sports pointed to teams now ready to call the Panthers to try to acquire players.

ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller also reminded us about how few picks the Panthers have in the 2023 draft.

The Panthers clearly could stand to add some draft picks as they enter into a reset/rebuild with a new head coach coming next year. Could the Detroit Lions look to make a deal with them?

Lions general manager Brad Holmes values draft picks highly, as he should as he looks to build the roster. But he also showed some aggressiveness in this year’s draft, moving up 20 spots in the first round to get wide receiver Jameson Williams.

So it’s safe to assume Holmes would be open to the right deal with the Panthers, with contract considerations and a player’s age as the leading factors. So not that the Lions need Christian McCaffrey, but even if they did they aren’t making a deal for him.

However, focused on one side of the ball, these four Panthers players should be on the Lions’ radar between now and the trade deadline.
