Here are the Detroit Lions inactives for Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots.

Friday’s injury report for the Detroit Lions had six players listed as out, so that was a good start toward knowing who would be inactive on Sunday against the New England Patriots. Wide receiver Quintez Cephus being placed on IR Saturday made it five players who would be for sure on the inactive list for Sunday.

Here are Sunday’s inactive players for the Lions.

  • RB D’Andre Swift
  • WR DJ Chark
  • DE Charles Harris
  • DL John Cominsky
  • OT Matt Nelson
  • S JuJu Hughes
  • CB Amani Oruwariye

Pro Football Focus graded out Oruwariye as the league’s worst cornerback through four weeks. He did miss Week 2 with a back injury, but via Tim Twentyman of the team website he has been deemed a healthy scratch. A mental break should do him good, but the drop-off of last year’s breakout player in the Lions’ secondary is a legit concern moving forward.

The additions of AJ Parker and Saivion Smith from the practice squad on Saturday pointed to some changes coming in the Lions’ secondary. The biggest is Oruwariye being benched for poor performance, but Mike Hughes seems in line for a reduced role on Sunday.

Detroit Lions Week 5 actives/inactives: A notable return

Amon-Ra St. Brown missed last week’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with a right ankle injury, and after practicing on Friday he’s back in the lineup on Sunday. Wide receiver Josh Reynolds was far less of a question mark with his own ankle issue, but he’s active as well.

Left guard Jonah Jackson will also return to action on Sunday after missing the last three games with a finger injury.

Here are the Patriots’ inactives for Sunday’s game. Mac Jones out confirms rookie Bailey Zappe will make his first NFL start.

  • QB Mac Jones
  • TE Jonnu Smith
  • RB Pierre Strong
  • CB Shaun Wade
  • DT Lawrence Guy
  • DE DaMarcus Mitchell
  • CB Joshuah Bledsoe
