5 teams who might be desperate enough to trade for former Lions WR Kenny Golladay
1. Chicago Bears
The numbers for the Bears’ passing game are ugly across the board so far this season, so ugly it’s hard to list them all–pure passing volume, yards…you name it, it’s bad and bad might not be a big or strong enough word. Justin Fields needs to be better, but having someone credible on the outside to throw to besides Darnell Mooney would help.
The Bears had rumored interest in Golladay when he hit free agency in 2021, but they presumably (and smartly, in hindsight) wouldn’t go as far with a contract offer as the Giants did.
Over at Bear Goggles On, upon rumors the Bears may be looking to add a wide receiver at the trade deadline, they’ve outlined three possible trade packages for Golladay. Let’s take a look at them.
1-Bears send a 2024 6th-round pick to the Giants for Golladay and a 2024 7th-round pick
2-Bears send DE Robert Quinn and a 2023 7th-round pick to Giants for Golladay and 2023 4th-round pick
3-Bears send OG Michael Schofield to the Giants for Golladay
If I were ranking them in order of likelihood, most to least, I would go 3, 1, 2. Parting with a player would make it easier for the Bears to take on more of Golladay’s 2022 salary, and any costs looking to 2023 are fairly easy for them to take on if they want to keep him.
The Bears need to do something more to help Fields, beyond game-planning and play-calling. Golladay is not the cure-all, but the production from their passing game can’t get any worse.
