Defensive line (8): Aidan Hutchinson, Charles Harris, Michael Brockers, Alim McNeill, Levi Onwuzurike, Julian Okwara, Josh Paschal, John Cominsky

Romeo Okwara (Achilles) seems likely to stay on the PUP list when the season starts, which opens up a spot until he’s ready to go. Paschal (PUP list) is also a question mark, as he works his way back from hernia surgery.

Cominsky has a chance to stick around–the second preseason game looks important for him.

Onwuzurike is still dealing with a back injury, which has his status for Week 1 in some doubt, but if he’ll only miss one game the Lions should carry him on the final 53.

Linebackers (5): Alex Anzalone, Chris Board, Malcolm Rodriguez, Derrick Barnes, Jarrad Davis

If the season started today, Anzalone and Board would be the starting off-ball linebackers in Detroit’s primary 4-2-5 setup. Barnes did not have a good showing against the Falcons, while Rodriguez was more good than bad. Davis has had a solid camp, and got a nice review from Pro Football Focus’ Sam Monson for his work against Atlanta.

"Jarrad Davis played 25 snaps to lead the Lions’ linebackers. He didn’t allow a completion into his coverage and forced an incompletion,”"
