As training camp gets going on Wednesday, the Detroit Lions placed three more players on injured lists.

The Detroit Lions have their first training camp practice on Wednesday. On Sunday five players were put on either the PUP or NFI lists. On Wednesday morning, three more players were added to those kind of lists and will miss the start of training camp.

Fullback Jason Cabinda has been placed on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list, safety C.J. Moore was put on the NFI (Non-Football Injury) list and offensive tackle Dan Skipper landed on NFI-I (Non-Football Illness) list.

The exact nature of the injuries/illnesses Cabinda, Moore and Skipper are dealing with is unknown. But the insinuation is Cabinda’s issue is a football-related injury, while Moore’s appears to have happened off the field or away from the team facility.

All three have been given active status, which confirms they can be taken off their respective lists at any point during training camp. But, as with the aforementioned five players who were placed on the PUP or NFI lists, remaining on those lists into the season (while not counting on the final 53-man roster) would require missing at least the first four games.

Detroit Lions make new additions to injury lists as camp starts

Cabinda seem certain to make the Lions’ 53-man roster as long as he’s physically able. He’s an important veteran leader for a young team.

Moore took some first-teams during June’s minicamp, and he’s been a core special teamer over three seasons with the Lions. But he is absolutely battling for a roster spot, and any missed practice time will not help him.

Skipper appeared in one game for the Lions last season, and in 10 games over the last four seasons. He is a long shot to get past first training camp cuts, as who is kept as offensive line depth is determined.
