Jared Goff is a “Hard Knocks” veteran, and as such he’s got some advice for his teammates when the HBO/NFL Films cameras descend on Allen Park.
With a quotable head coach, quotable assistant coaches and more than a few players who will be interesting to follow, the Detroit Lions will be must-see tv when “Hard Knocks” visits training camp. For quarterback Jared Goff, it will be his third time on the show.
In 2016, HBO and NFL Films chronicled the Rams first training camp after moving to Los Angeles. Then in 2020, in an “All Los Angeles” season of “Hard Knocks”, the Rams were featured along with the Chargers. Goff was a rookie in 2016, with a viral moment on the show where he wasn’t able to say what direction the sun rises in.
Jared Goff has ‘Hard Knocks’ advice for his teammates
Earlier this is spring, via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press, Goff had some “Hard Knocks” advice for his teammates.
"I think for the young guys it’s always hard cause they don’t know any better, to an extent,” Goff said earlier this spring. “I was a victim of it myself is, you have to be careful what you say and when you say it and what cameras are around.”For the most part, they’re trying to make us look good,” he said last month. “The NFL’s trying to make Detroit look good and they’re on our side, but you do have to be careful.”"
Goff was also with the Rams when they were on Amazon’s “All or Nothing”, so he’s something of reality show vet.
Fellow former Rams Michael Brockers and Josh Reynolds joined Goff on at least one season of “Hard Knocks.” Fullback Jason Cabinda had a featured role in 2019 with the then-Oakland Raiders, as he tried to make that team.
Lions running back Jamaal Williams recently said, in slightly profane terms, he couldn’t care less about being on “Hard Knocks.” But he will be one of players the cameras will easily find, and someone who may have to really heed Goff’s advice about being careful what to say–even in the looser setting of premium pay tv.
