Detroit Lions running back Jamaal Williams is sure to be one of the stars of “Hard Knocks” this summer, but that doesn’t mean he cares about the show that much.

When it was announced the Detroit Lions would be featured on this year’s traditional training camp edition of HBO’s “Hard Knocks”, running back Jamaal Williams was easy to tab as one of the stars of the show.

Always quotable and a favorite of the local media in Detroit, the nation is going to get a closer look at Williams in the reality show setting. The cameras and microphones would be remiss not to find him over and over.

Williams was among the Lions players who spoke to the media Wednesday. “Hard Knocks” naturally came up.

Via 97.1 The Ticket:

"I don’t give a f—k,” he said, whispering the cuss word. “I don’t care. I just want to play football. All that is to me now is more cameras walking around staring at me. …I just want to win football. I just want to win a Super Bowl, this year. Forget the ‘Hard Knocks’ and all that stuff.”"

Jamaal Williams will still be a “Hard Knocks” star, whether he likes it or not

Williams didn’t disappoint during his Wednesday media session. When asked why he cut some weight this offseason, he said “so you can see my abs when I take my shirt off.”

As for “Hard Knocks” and the personality everyone knows will make him a star of the show, Williams said he’ll just be himself.

"People think I’m funny, but I don’t do it on purpose,” he continued. “It’s just me. Just walk around and be me all the time. That’s it. I can’t fake nothing. They gonna see it. They gonna see it on my face. Every time they got a camera on my face, I’m just gonna look at them…I ain’t gonna smile at them. Maybe. We’ll see.”"

Williams is more focused on bigger things than “Hard Knocks” heading toward the 2022 season, as he surely should be. But can’t really escape how he will be someone HBO wants to capture a lot, and he seems to know it.
