Jared Goff and Tom Brady once played against each other in a Super Bowl, and they now share an on-field accomplishment.

It’s fair to say Jared Goff and Tom Brady are winning off the field. Brady is of course married to Gisele Bundchen, while Goff is dating Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Christen Harper. The two quarterbacks also played against each other in Super Bowl LIII, won by Brady’s New England Patriots over Goff’s Los Angeles Rams.

Of course Brady and Goff are both now on different teams–Brady the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for a third season in 2022 after a retirement best measured in days, and Goff going into his second season with the Detroit Lions. In a broad sense, the two signal callers are not in the same class talent-wise or in quality of team they play for right now. The Lions look to be on the right track, the question is if Goff will be their quarterback beyond the 2022 season.

Jared Goff and Tom Brady share an on-field statistical accomplishment

Over the last five seasons, Brady and Goff are the only two NFL quarterbacks with 45 or more wins and 20,000 passing yards (regular season). Here’s the tale of the tape.

Brady: 60-21 record, 22,938 yards
Goff: 45-30-1 record, 20,327 yards

Goff finished his first season in Detroit strongly, with 11 touchdown passes and two interceptions over his last five starts along with a passer rating (107.1) that was among the best in the league over those weeks. That has guided some faith from Lions general manager Brad Holmes.

"We like Goff. I like where he’s at. He finished strong. Keep adding pieces and then whenever that is (to sign another quarterback), is it next year? Is it this year? Is it two years from now? And the right guy is sitting there, then you figure out a way to get that guy when it’s the right guy.”"

Goff is entering a make-or-break season in 2022, not only for his future in Detroit but also as an NFL starter anywhere. But sharing any accomplishment with Brady is notable, no matter how it’s sliced, and Goff has one in his pocket now.
