With the 2022 NFL Draft in the books, here are grades for each of the Detroit Lions’ picks.
It’s that time of the year again when hope springs anew for NFL teams around the league. Including the Detroit Lions, who made eight picks in the 2022 draft as they continue through their rebuild in the second year of the Brad Holmes-Dan Campbell regime.
This year’s objective was simple, in hindsight: acquire some superstar talent and try to bolster the defensive depth. You can confidently check both those boxes after Detroit aggressively traded up in the first round, and wound up making two of the top 12 picks. Ultimately, they spent six of their eight picks on the defensive side of the ball.
Last year I was overall very high on what the Lions did, through one year that class looks like it will be a good one. This year and next things will ramp up, as Detroit looks to establish the core a team that can win and win in a sustainable way.
