Can the Detroit Lions get Aidan Hutchinson at No. 2 now?

Defensive end Travon Walker seems likely to be the No.1 overall pick, so the Detroit Lions seem to have a great chance to get their guy Aidan Hutchinson.

Plenty of rumblings have suggested Aidan Hutchinson may no longer be the top prospect on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ draft board. Instead, defensive end Travon Walker has been rumored to be their top choice. Multiple reports and sportsbook odds are suggesting Walker is going to be the No. 1 overall pick. This is a huge break for the Detroit Lions.

While Walker may be more athletic than Hutchinson, he is more of a question mark due to the lack of production he had at Georgia. His physical tools just didn’t translate to sacks. This could have been the product of bad luck or how he was used in a loaded Georgia defense. Either way, he is far from a sure thing. We have seen busts who didn’t produce in college. We’ve also seen it go the other way and work out.

Regardless, Walker looks like a huge gamble for the No. 1 pick. If he goes first overall, Detroit should have a no-brainer selection at No. 2.

Lions can thank the Jaguars if they have a chance to get Aidan Hutchinson

Rather than focusing on trading down, Detroit seems likely to have a good chance to take Hutchinson (a Michigan native, if you’ve not been paying attention) second overall. Not only did he produce gaudy numbers at Michigan, but he was also a culture setter.

Hutchinson fits perfectly to what head coach Dan Campbell wants this Lions’ team to be: hard-nosed, hard-working and dominating in the trenches.

If he’s available, the Detroit Lions should select Aidan Hutchinson No. 2 overall with little time lapsed on the clock Thursday night. Then they can sit and back and say “thank you” to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
