2022 NFL Draft: Detroit Lions 7-Round 2022 Mock Draft
On the verge of the new year, here’s a fresh seven round 2022 mock draft for the Detroit Lions.
The Detroit Lions currently hold the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, with a chance to still finish with the No. 1 overall pick if the Jacksonville Jaguars manage to win another game.
In any case, the Lions have two first-round picks to get their 2022 draft off to a nice start. No quarterback is worthy of that upcoming top-five pick, but the second first-rounder (courtesy of the Los Angeles Rams and the Matthew Stafford trade) could bring the quarterback of the future.
Via the draft order from Tankathon, here’s a full 7-round mock draft for the Detroit Lions as Jan. 1, 2022 approaches.
Note: I actually did this mock draft on NFL Mock Draft Database’s simulator.

First Round
The Lions could get cute and take another player at another position with the No. 2 overall pick, but it’ll really come down to which of Kayvon Thibodeaux or Hutchinson is available here. The Jaguars took Thibodeaux in this mock spin, leaving the former Wolverine and Michigan native for Detroit to take.
In some light, Hutchinson is a more NFL-ready prospect than Thibodeaux. The Lions shouldn’t be on the clock too long.
With some quarterback and wide receiver options still available, the Lions punt on those spots and go with another defensive player here. Lloyd was one of the most productive linebackers in the country this season, as the Utes get ready for the jan. 1 Rose Bowl against Ohio State at the time of this writing, with 107 tackles (22 tackles for loss), seven sacks, four interceptions (two returned for touchdowns) and six pass breakups.
The Lions’ level of need at linebacker will largely be determined by free agency, with Jalen Reeves-Maybin and Alex Anzalone both set to hit the market. But Lloyd can’t be turned away from here.
