The Detroit Lions have been playing pretty well lately, but these three players should still be demoted immediately.
Since their bye week the Detroit Lions are now 2-2-1, and one of those losses came on a last-play field goal. A one-sided loss to the Denver Broncos in Week 14 came with a roster depleted by a COVID outbreak, then they came back and surprisingly dominated the Arizona Cardinals in Week 15.
Plenty of Lions are playing well right now. But there are certainly some who have struggled, and been a detriment to trying to win games. Getting some people back from injury or the COVID-19 list may help fortify some weak spots over the final three games, and put lesser players back where they belong (on the bench, or in a minimal role).
Even with injuries, etc. dictating some creativity with how players are used and who sees the field, these three Detroit Lions should be demoted immediately and without hesitation.
3 Detroit Lions who should be demoted immediately
3. FS C.J. Moore
Moore played every defensive snap (75) against the Cardinals, and (per Justin Rogers of The Detroit News) he delivered the Lions’ third worst defensive grade for the game from Pro Football Focus.
Moore has only started to play any significant defensive snaps (101 over the last two games), with the absence of top safety Tracy Walker and some other missing secondary pieces a big factor. Walker may be be back for Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons after being activated off the COVID list last Saturday.
Demoting Moore back to mostly special teams duty should be easy, as long as Walker and some others are able to return to action.
