. Auden Tate. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. player. 56. WR, Bengals. 2.

In the only of his three full NFL seasons where he had over a 50 percent snap share (or even close to it), Tate delivered solid production when he got an opportunity (40 catches for 575 yards over 12 games in 2019). He also had 80 targets, so it’s fair to assume if Cincinnati had better quarterbacking that year his numbers would’ve been better.

But the Bengals keep drafting wide receivers to push Tate down the depth chart (Tee Higgins in 2020, Ja’Marr Chase this year), leaving Tate as a player with  potential and little opportunity to show it. It has taken Higgins missing time (two games) or a blowout win (Week 6 against the Lions) for him to even get 20 offensive snaps in a game this season.

Tate is easily mentioned as a trade candidate due to the Bengals’ wide receiver depth, and any team with a need at wide receiver should have some interest as the trade deadline approaches. The Lions just a got a bit of a first-hand look at him, so he should be on their list of trade targets now if he wasn’t already.
