Going into the 2021 season we knew the Detroit Lions were not a very good football team. I don’t think anyone expected Sunday’s game against the Bengals to be as ugly as it was.

The Bengals marched into Ford Field and absolutely dominated the Lions by a final score of 34-11. Even that score makes this game look closer than it really was.

On top of that, the Lions are now the only remaining winless team after Jacksonville won against Miami in London on Sunday. At least Kayvon Thibodeaux looks really good, but the draft feels very far away right now.

Let’s get this over with.

Detroit Lions Week 6 Report Card

Offense- 0/5 Stars

This offense has hit rock bottom. Another first-half shutout, and only 11 points scored.

It’s been painful to watch for the majority of games through six weeks. Absolutely everything is going wrong for this offense. Mediocre was expected, but this is just horrible.

The offensive line has been a massive disappointment thus far. Injuries have been a huge factor, but good grief they have been almost completely unable to give Jared Goff any time to throw or open up run lanes.

Which leads to the run game, the Lions came into this game as the 20th ranked rush offense with 103 yards per game. They ran for 36 yards on Sunday.

Then there’s Goff. How many times is he going to completely ignore downfield receivers in favor of a check down? How many times is he going to throw short of the sticks on third down? It’s infuriating to watch Goff play, and pretty much everyone has turned on him already.

Best offensive player: TE T.J Hockenson

In a game where pretty much everything was a disaster, Hockenson at least racked up some yards in garbage time. He was pretty invisible for most of the game, but after the last three weeks it’s nice to see Hockenson get some targets again.

Worst offensive player(s): Everyone else

Already summed everything up, it was just an awful game all around. Nothing went right in this game.

It’s hard to imagine the offense getting much worse than this. But then again whenever you think you’ve hit rock bottom, you can always go lower.
