Coaching Staff-2.5/5 Stars

This is a really difficult grade to hand out, on the one hand, I thought the Lions’ defense had a great day and the play-calling was very good.

On the other hand, the offense couldn’t get anything going all game, leading to Campbell having to get conservative in some spots like the aforementioned 4th-and-four punt.

Then the Lions’ defense got really conservative on the final drive and it led to another loss. The game was by no means the defense’s fault, but they had a chance to win it on the final drive and came up short again.

I’ve been saying for weeks that I generally like the weekly game plans but the execution was off. In this game, the offensive play calling was questionable and the execution was terrible. The defensive play-calling and execution were great, except when it mattered most.

Some of that has to fall on the coaching staff, plain and simple.

Final Thoughts:

There’s not much to say, this game was pretty hard to watch at times. And yet, victory was in the grasp of the Lions again before it slipped away.

This team is a lot better than its record. But at some point you have to convert on the chances you are given. Grit and tenacity only get you so far. Bill Parcells said you are what your record says you are, and these Lions are 0-5.

Final grade: 3/5
