Lions quarterback Jared Goff named Week 5 NFLPA Community MVP

Lions quarterback Jared Goff has been recognized for his off the field work, with the NFLPA naming him Week 5 Community MVP.

Jared Goff has been recognized for his work off the field. On Friday, the NFLPA named him its Community MVP for Week 5.

Goff helped distribute 40,000 pounds of fresh food and supplies to families in need around the Detroit area through a mobile food pantry set up at Ford Field. This not the first time the Lions signal caller has been recognized for his work off the field.

During his time with the Rams, in November of 2018, Goff was named Community Impact Player of the Week after donating and helping raise funds for Californians who were displaced by wildfires and impacted by a mass shooting.

Upon his being named Week 5 Community MVP, the NFL will donate $10,000 to Goff’s foundation or charity of choice. Goff acknowledged the honor, and his intentional effort to give back to the community in which he plays.

“It’s an incredible honor to be named NFLPA Community MVP. I am extremely passionate about impacting the community where I play beyond the football field. The city of Detroit has embraced me and in return, I want to do all I can to leave my mark.”

On the field this Sunday, Goff will look to lead the Lions to their first victory of the 2021 season against the 1-3 Minnesota Vikings.
