After a thriller last week against the Ravens, many pegged this game as a win for the Detroit Lions. After the first quarter, all hope was pretty much lost.

Another bad start, another second half that saw the offense try and dig itself out of the hole they dug themselves in the first half. Another week without a win. And to make matters worse, it was a loss to a division rival in the Chicago Bears.

To make matters worse, the Lions were hit hard by injuries in this game, to key players too.

Offense- 1/5 Stars

Ignore the final score, there’s only one stat that matters from this game. The Lions had five drives go inside the Bears’ 10 yard-line, they only put points up on one of those drives. Two turnovers on downs, two fumbles.

Sure, Jared Goff racked up some yards, primarily in the second half. But he couldn’t complete plays when it mattered, and his offensive line didn’t help much either.

Goff was under siege for a lot of this game, and if there’s one thing that makes Jared Goff play poorly, it’s pressure.

Best offensive player: Amon-Ra St. Brown

This was actually a pretty tough decision, all of the Lions’ receivers had pretty good games. I decided on St. Brown because he had the most receptions of any Lion in this game.

Through three weeks the Sun God had been pretty quiet, but he finally had his breakout game for Detroit. He got open often with his nuanced route running and he was pretty sure-handed throughout this one.

Worst offensive player: D’Andre Swift

Last week I said it doesn’t matter how, but you need to get Swift more touches. But this was a pretty rough effort for the Lions’ most electric player. Just 48 total yards on 12 touches and a measly two yards per carry.

Obviously Swift is better than that, this is a game where you burn the tape and expect a lot more next week.
