The injury bug leaves the Detroit Lions with five questionable against the Saints

Like many of the NFL teams following a truncated offseason with no preseason games to prepare, the Detroit Lions have had their fair share of injuries to deal with. And entering their Week Four matchup against the surprising 1-2 New Orleans Saints, the Lions have several tagged as questionable for the contest.

On Friday, the Lions’ final injury report was released. On it, Detroit listed five players as questionable. But only one has been designated as officially considered out for the game against the Saints. As for New Orleans, they’ve listed a whopping six players as officially out for the contest and only on as questionable.

While the Lions have already ruled out safety C.J. Moore for the contest, the status of five others for Sunday’s matchup is still up in the air. Those players include tight end Hunter Bryant (hamstring), defensive lineman Da’Shawn Hand (chest), linebacker Christian Jones (knee), Darryl Roberts (hip), and cornerback Desmond Trufant (hamstring).

All but two of the above were limited participants throughout all three practice sessions this week. Roberts did not appear on the injury report until Thursday. And Jones did not participate during Friday’s session despite practicing full the previous two days.

The Saints have designated several starters as being officially out for their matchup against the Lions at Ford Field this Sunday. Those players include wide receiver Michael Thomas (ankle), cornerback Marshon Lattimore (hamstring), cornerback Janoris Jenkins (shoulder), offensive guard/tackle Andrus Peat (ankle), defensive end Marcus Davenport (elbow/toe), and tight end Jared Cook (groin).

Linebacker Chase Hansen is the only player who appears on the Saints’ final injury report as questionable. Hansen was limited in all three practice sessions this week with a hip injury.
