The Detroit Lions continue to disappoint under Matt Patricia. So who might be the next man up?

The Detroit Lions are off to another less than stellar start. Two games into the season and what we’re seeing is the same as the last two years.

It’s sad and pathetic and Lions fans everywhere wonder when this never-ending downward spiral will stop. Let’s be honest, if we go by the percentages of how this franchise has performed over the last 60 plus years, it may not get any better under a new regime.

But that doesn’t mean that Lions owner Sheila Ford Hamp should give up. Despite the fact that she was part of the process that made the decision to retain Matt Patricia’s services after last year’s debacle, this is her first opportunity to find the right people to turn this franchise around.

What they need is a miracle worker or perhaps an exorcist to finally put all the bad football the Lions have played behind them and create, if nothing else, a competitive future. A future where the Detroit football franchise isn’t a joke.

Maybe that’s asking too much of this organization, but considering where the state of the team is, they might as well try. When you’re already at the bottom of the barrel then there’s nothing to lose.

I do know some fans that are still saying, ‘just give Matt Patricia time and trust the process.’ Smart general managers and coaches are able to at least field a competitive team by their third season on the job. That means the Lions have plenty of work to do if they want to prove they have made progress.

When you consider that the Lions have lost 11 straight games and have set an NFL record of blowing double-digit leads in four straight contests, then perhaps it is time to consider that maybe the good ship Patricia is sailing in the wrong direction.
