2019

Round 1 Pick 8: Tight End T.J. Hockenson

A very underwhelming rookie year for T.J. Hockenson. However, that is expected for rookie tight ends. He’s shown flashes and if a big jump is made next season, this grade will go up. At the moment, I’ll leave it as a B-, there were better selections for short-term success.

Grade: B-

Round 2 Pick 43: Linebacker Jahlani Tavai

Considered a huge reach, Jahlani Tavai has shut up most of his doubters. Making big plays left and right at linebacker in his first season. He’s a player who is trending up and could impress with more playing time in the future.

Grade: B+

Round 3 Pick 81: Safety Will Harris

I’m leaving this as a C we haven’t seen much from him. Will Harris is in line to start at safety this season alongside Tracy Walker and Duron Harmon. Although in his limited playing time, he didn’t show much. This pick is still a blank canvas.

Grade: C

Round 4 Pick 117: Edge Rusher Austin Bryant

An incomplete grade because he only played in four total games this season and was coming off an injury. I’m excited to see Austin Bryant out on the field next season.

Grade: INC

Round 5 Pick 146: Cornerback Amani Oruwariye

Forced into playtime from multiple injuries ended up becoming a good thing. Amani Oruwariye is the first Lions rookie to have 2 interceptions in the past 10 seasons. Figures to be a full-time starter within a year or two.

Grade: A-
