With the big event less than a month away, let’s project who the Detroit Lions should select with their nine picks in the upcoming 2020 NFL Draft.

The day that Detroit Lions fans have been dreaming about for the last few months is officially here, as the NFL Draft has become as exciting for Motor City maniacs as the Super Bowl these days.

All jokes aside about these lovable losers, the draft is the most efficient and cheapest way to infuse your roster with young talent who can become fixtures of the Lions for years to come.

It is important to note that in this mock draft, we assume that the Washington professional football didn’t take Chase Young. Based a lot of dire needs and an general manager/ownership that has made some questionable deals over the past few years, that seems like a reasonable suggestion.

Without further ado, here is who the Detroit Lions should target with their nine picks in the 2020 NFL draft.

The fit of Young in Detroit doesn’t even need to be explained here. He is the most hyped pass rusher since Jadeveon Clowney in 2014, and would be the first overall pick if LSU Quarterback Joe Burrow didn’t have what could quite possibly be called the most dominant season in college football history.

The Detroit Lions ranked dead last in pass rush win rate last season, winning less than a quarter of their assignments when opposing teams dropped back to pass on them in 2019.

As a rare physical specimen with long, chiseled, and flexible frame, Young should be more than capable of helping that percentage go up. With experienced pass rushers like Trey Flowers and Jamie Collins to also pressure opposing teams off the edge, it’s not crazy to think that Young could reach double-digit sacks with the Lions in 2020.
