Landing spot #3: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Bucs have the third-highest amount of cap room in the NFL. After seeing how good their run defense was this year, it’s only assumed that they want to get their pass defense to the same level.

Defensive coordinator Todd Bowles is the type of coach that knows his player’s strengths and weaknesses. He would know how to put Slay in the best situations to succeed if Tampa Bay were to acquire him.

Cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting and Carlton Davis had lots of pressure put on them in the passing game last season. Having Slay on the roster would put less stress on them, as well as put them in situations to succeed.

While having the third-highest cap room in the league, the Bucs defense allowed the third-highest amount of total passing yards, standing at a whopping 4,322.

It’s clear that they have big problems in the pass defense. But with that big amount of cap room, they should be able to fix those problems easily.

For all of you wondering, well what about their quarterback situation? Well, whether they go all out for Jameis Winston, or soon-to-be free agent, Phillip Rivers, Tampa Bay should easily have enough cap room to fit Darius Slay in.
