The Detroit Lions are hoping to become a playoff contender in 2020. If they accomplish their goal, here are three players likely headed to the Pro Bowl.

The Detroit Lions sent wide receiver Kenny Golladay and cornerback Darius Slay to the Pro Bowl over the weekend. For Golladay, it was his first nomination. And for Slay, his third in a row.

The Lions third-year receiver actually led both Pro Bowl teams in receiving posting 109 yards, catching three of his seven targets. Slay recorded four total tackles and one pass defend as the NFC team was defeated 38-33 by the AFC All-Stars.

Now, the focus turns to next season. With Lions owner Martha Ford expecting the team to go from 3-12-1 to being a playoff contender in 2020, Detroit will likely need to send more than just two players to the Pro Bowl in 2021.

Here are three possible first-time Pro Bowlers that Detroit could send to the NFL’s All-Star game next year.

Frank Ragnow, C

The Lions shifted their 2018 first-rounder from guard to center last season. And the move was a major win for Detroit. According to Pro Football Focus, Frank Ragnow‘s overall grade jump over ten points as he allowed just 2.0 sacks while playing 996 offensive snaps (second-most on the entire team).

Tracy Walker, S

The former third-round selection out of Louisiana–Lafayette emerged as the Lions’ most consistent defender in 2019. In only his second season, Tracy Walker led the team in both total tackles (100) and solo tackles (79). He also posted six tackles for loss, one interception, and forced a fumble playing in only 13 games.

Trey Flowers, DE

After a slow start, the Lions top free-agent acquisition from last offseason started to prove his worth after inking a monster five-year, $90 million deal. Trey Flowers would end up posting 51 total tackles, 7.0 sacks, and forcing two fumbles in his first season in Detroit. The two-time Super Bowl winner recorded six of those sacks after Week Seven, giving Lions fans hope for a double-digit sack performance in 2020.
