Week 15: Appreciate how good Kenny Golladay has become

Here’s a surprising but true math equation: Year 3 Babytron > Year 3 Megatron. No question about it, Kenny Golladay has arrived as a top-tier receiver in the NFL.

We need to get several solid rounds of Golladay appreciation going on this site. He’s one of the few remaining bright spots on this team, continuing to haul in touchdowns at a league-leading rate no matter who is throwing him the ball. His nifty double move on Prince Amukamara last week helped David Blough score a 75 yard TD on his first career completion.

Golladay at this point has a legitimate case for making the All-Pro team at the end of the season. He currently ranks 6th in the NFL in receiving yardage (950), second in yards per catch (20.5), and tied with Marvin Jones Jr. for first in receiving touchdowns (9).

The comparisons to Calvin Johnson seemed pretty far-fetched at the beginning of his Lions career, but Golladay’s year three stats and impact are already at or beyond Megatron’s 2009 numbers (year three for Calvin).

Facing Golladay in Week 15 are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, ranked 31st in the NFL in passing defense (one spot lower than the Lions). Should be bombs away for Babytron, as long as there’s still someone left standing to pass it to him.
