2 players to watch for the Redskins

Derrius Guice – A popular choice for Detroit by Lions’ fans and prognosticators prior to the 2018 draft, Guice slipped to late in the second round that year due to character concerns. His career in Washington since then has gotten off to a rocky start, missing his entire rookie season with a torn ACL and appearing in only two games this season due to a torn meniscus.

If Peterson plays, Guice’s snaps will be limited, but he’s the kind of player who would relish the chance to prove to all the teams that passed on him that they made a mistake, including the Lions. He caught a 45-yard touchdown in last week’s loss against the New York Jets.

Montez Sweat – Another player frequently connected to the Lions prior to the draft, Sweat slipped to the bottom of the first round this past April due to a heart condition. The speedy edge defender has had a quiet rookie season, largely due to his team’s struggles. Yet, he has a wealth of potential if he can stay healthy, and he could be a tricky matchup for the Lions’ tackles, who have been average all season.
