Devonta Freeman – Atlanta Falcons

When thinking of the top running backs in the NFL, Devonta Freeman isn’t a name that comes up often. Yet he has the credentials to be considered one of the best players at his position. A fourth-round selection in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Florida State, Freeman posted back-to-back 1,000-yard rushing seasons in both 2015 and 2016.

Freeman would help to lead the Falcons to the Super Bowl following the 2016 regular season. The following year, Atlanta would sign him to a five-year contract extension worth $41.25 million, making him the league’s highest-paid running back at the time.

Various injuries limited Freeman to just two games in 2018. And this season, the 1-6 Falcons appear to be a shell of the team they once were. The franchise could suddenly be in need of a rebuild. If so, Freeman and other noticeable names could be on the trading block in A-Town.
