4.) Tobin Rote

Tobin Rote was with the Detroit Lions for only three years, from 1957-1959, but after Bobby Layne was injured during the 1957 season, Rote stepped in and led the Lions to the playoffs against the San Francisco 49ers.

With a trip to the championship game on the line and trailing the 49ers 24-7 at halftime, Rote helped rally the Lions to a 31-27 come from behind victory.

Then just for good measure, Rote helped the Lions embarrass the Cleveland Browns in the title game 59-14.

The Lions and Rote did little in his final two years in Detroit, but after stepped in, excelling in the playoffs and leading the Lions to their last championship he accomplished more than every Lions quarterback since.
