Trent Williams, LT

The Lions have committed a ton of resources to their offensive line in recent years. Under general manager Bob Quinn, Detroit has committed two of their first-round selections to the O-line in the past four years. That first pick back in 2016 was left tackle Taylor Decker. And although Decker has been a solid player for the Lions, he’s far from a home run.

That fact could open the door for a trade with the Washington Redskins. Not only did they just fire their head coach, Jay Gruden, but the team has been unable to come to terms with their seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle Trent Williams. The 31-year old All-Pro is in the midst of a holdout with the organization and hasn’t played a single snap this season yet. And both sides appear to be dug in.

With Decker as a possible trading piece, perhaps the Lions can break the stalemate. In Williams, Detroit would secure themselves a top-tier talent to protect Matthew Stafford‘s blindside. In exchange, the Redskins would get an adequate replacement with potential upside and the draft compensation that they’ll need sitting at 0-5 with a new coaching staff likely on the way.
