The Detroit Lions are set to take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. And here are three players whom we believe could have a big day for the Pride.

Following the loss suffered by the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night, the Detroit Lions assumed the number one spot in the NFC North divisional rankings with a record of 2-0-1. But Detroit ‘s time on top might be short-lived, as a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs could potentially sink the Lions all the way down to the basement of the division.

Going into Week Four, not a single team in the NFC North possesses a losing record. That means Detroit can’t afford to lose traction, as they’ll head into their bye next week. So pulling out an upset against a talented Chiefs squad could be considered a must-win.

Here are three Lions’ players we believe will have a big day against the Chiefs on Sunday …

Kerryon Johnson, RB

Over the first three games of the season, the Chiefs are undefeated. But they have also allowed a whopping 413 rushing yards to opposing offenses. Last week, against the Baltimore Ravens, Kansas City allowed running back Mark Ingram to rush for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 carries. Look for Kerryon Johnson to have his biggest rushing total yet against the Chiefs.

Rashaan Melvin, CB

With cornerback Darius Slay questionable for this upcoming matchup due to a hamstring injury, the Lions will call on Melvin to carry more of the load. So far, the 29-year old has been up to the challenge, recording 17 tackles and five pass defends through his first three games in Motown. Melvin was the defender in one-on-one coverage during the game-sealing play against the Eagles last Sunday.

Marvin Jones, WR

Jones’ production has steadily increased as the season has progressed. In Philadelphia last weekend, the eight-year veteran racked up six receptions for 101 yards and his first touchdown of the new season. His consistent play has made him a security blanket for quarterback Matthew Stafford. Expect Jones’ numbers to continue to rise in a shootout with the high-powered Chiefs this Sunday.
