Preview – The Lions Offense

As for the Lions and what they need to do in order to win this game? Detroit just needs to keep doing what they are doing. The Lions are doing well on both sides of the ball. They just need to build on what they already have going.

Many have been concerned with Detroit’s offensive line play, I’m not. Although depth may become an issue at some point, then I’ll consider changing my stance. But for now, quarterback Matthew Stafford has had time and he isn’t on his back or running for his life every snap.

They could do better in the run blocking department, but I suspect that they aren’t too far off from gaining an edge there either. Consistency will develop with each game, as they will learn each other’s tendencies and whatnot.

I will be looking for more consistency within the entire offense from the Detroit Lions. Offensive coordinator, Darrell Bevell’s offense has looked pretty good in the Lions first two games. They are moving the ball well and are playing unpredictably, but haven’t put enough points on the board. That’s where the consistency comes into play, and Detroit hasn’t been.

Detroit had 477 yards of offense against the Arizona Cardinals to kick off the season and 389 yards against the Los Angeles Chargers last week. Arizona kept the Lions offense out of the endzone in two full quarters (first and third) in week one, and the Chargers shut them out for another two quarters (second and third) in week two. I hope to see more consistency going into the matchup against the Eagles Sunday.
