
Being a Detroit Lions fan has ups and downs. Dealing with rival fan bases can be tricky if you don’t know the facts. Here’s what you need to know.
If you’ve ever gone onto any social media platform you know how ugly things can get. If you’re also a Detroit Lions fan you know that some fans of division rivals are going to take cheap shots.
Rival fans will play the same old cards about Super Bowls, or usually “appearances in”, playoff win droughts, Stat Padford, bankruptcy, ruining Calvin and Barry, or some trope about the Motor City in general.
We know as Detroit Lions fans that the Lions have had many struggles over the years and that being a fan doesn’t always have a big payoff.
Furthermore, there’s nothing that a fan of a division rival can tell us that hasn’t been parroted a thousand times by big sports media outlets and announcers over time.
We already know and have heard it all to the point that if you remind us of our last NFL title, you had better have a great reason to quote it beside the fact that you just hopped on the bandwagon of the New England Patriots or the Pittsburgh Steelers fan base.
So, what follows here is not a petty rant to make Detroit Lions fans feel better but a picture of how to defend yourself online from other team’s fans “putting you in your place.”
