The Detroit Lions will trim down their roster to 53-players by Saturday afternoon. But reports about possible cuts are already being leaked.

Following the Detroit Lions‘ preseason finale against the Cleveland Browns Thursday night, the process of trimming down the team’s 90-player roster to only 53-men has begun. The NFL mandates that every NFL team must have this competed by Saturday, August 31st by 4:00 p.m. ET.

That means the Lions must waive or release a total of 37 players in the next 24 hours. As you can imagine, this is a stressful time for players who are on the bubble. The Lions have already started making cuts and news of these impending moves has already started to leak via social media.

Below, we’ll keep track of any news about possible Lions’ cuts obtained either directly from the player themselves or via a trusted news source. We’ll also provide a link to that source for confirmation. We intend to keep updating this list through the next couple days. So be sure to stay tuned to SideLion Report for any updated names.

Finally, please remember that these reported cuts are unofficial until the team itself confirms the list, which should be sometime following the league mandated deadline on Saturday afternoon.

dark. Next. The slightly too early Lions All-Decade Offense

Many of the above players had one last opportunity to prove to the Lions they belong on the final roster in the preseason finale Thursday night. Unfortunately, it was a forgettable preseason for the Pride as they lost all four of their games. Although the contests technically don’t count, they certainly matter when it comes to player evaluation.
