Mohamed Sanu, WR – Atlanta Falcons

The wide receiver corps in Detroit is a bit thin. You’ve got your three starters in Kenny Golladay, Marvin Jones, and Danny Amendola. But beyond that trio on the depth chart are only question marks. The injury suffered by Jermaine Kearse (now on IR) in the preseason opener severely damaged the depth at the position.

Rookie Travis Fulgham, Chris Lacy, Andy Jones, and Brandon Powell appear to be battling it out for the final two, possibly three spots on the final roster. None of whom had a major impact in the preseason.

Combined with the fact Marvin Jones is coming off a season-ending knee injury, and both him and Golladay (chest) missed offseason workouts due to injuries, the Lions could use a reliable veteran wideout to add to the mix.

The 30-year old Sanu could be the answer. The Atlanta Falcons used their top selection in 2018 to select Alabama receiver Calvin Ridley to add alongside All-Word wideout Julio Jones. That combined with Sanu’s $6 million+ contract over the next two years and there being a new offensive coordinator in Atlanta could make the eighth-year veteran a possible trade option. Sanu recorded 66 receptions for 838 yards and four touchdowns last season in a crowded receiver corps.
