Jimmy Landes, LS

Selected: Sixth round / pick #35 (210th overall)
School: Baylor
Position: Long Snapper
Career statistics: 0 games played
Current status: Out of NFL

A long snapper? Really? Bob Quinn raised many eyebrows when he brought Landes in to compete with an aging Don Muhlbach. Quinn clearly underestimated the venerable Muhlbach, who ranks second all time in games played for the Lions.

Landes, one of just five long snappers drafted since 2015, was unable to unseat the veteran, who hasn’t missed a beat since. The rookie was placed on injured reserve prior to the regular season in 2016 and released the following June. He never appeared in a regular season game. Lesson learned; never doubt the Mule.
