For years, fans have been begging the Lions to move on from the often-injured Ezekiel Ansah. Yet, premier pass rushers are rare in this league. And that’s the main reason Ziggy spent six years in the Motor City, likely two seasons too long.
But the Lions were able to immediately swap one premier rusher for another this offseason, as Trey Flowers has now been named a top-10 edge rusher going into 2019 by the good folks over at Pro Football Focus.

The addition of Fredrick Jones appears to be that of an emergency depth signing as the Lions are depleted along their defensive line right now. The undrafted rookie out of Florida State is the nephew of former New York Jets linebacker Marvin Jones, who last played in 2003.

The Lions forced just seven total interceptions as a team in 2018, which was tied for the second-lowest amount in the NFL. The previous year, cornerback Darius Slay posted his first Pro Bowl season after recording eight interceptions on his own. Detroit must find a way to force more turnovers this upcoming season.
