With the fourth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders select…

Pick Analysis. Missouri. Drew Lock. Scouting Report. Quarterback. 4. player. 28

Jon Gruden got the personally coach Lock in the Senior Bowl, and it seemingly left a mark on Gruden. The Raiders take Drew Lock here as Gruden has become enamored with him since coaching him in the Senior Bowl. Gruden showered Lock with praise at the game and had nothing bad to say about him, saying “He’s exactly as advertised… I thought he had a touchdown pass dropped. He’s the real deal — he’s got a great future”.

Add that with the reports that Dwayne Haskins isn’t going to be the second quarterback off the board and it seems to be that Lock will end up in Oakland. Gruden and quarterback Derek Carr don’t seem to have the best of relationships at the moment and it would make sense for Gruden to want to groom a quarterback of his own choosing.

Lock would get to sit for however long he needed to before he was ready to step in for Carr on a full-time basis. Once he does step in, look for a team like the Denver Broncos to call up the Raiders and check in on how much Carr would cost them to acquire him. Lock’s big arm would fit well with star wide-out Antonio Brown and speedster Tyrell Williams and could take the offense up to a level they could not reach under Carr’s leadership.
